Letter from our new Principal!

Proctor Terrace Elementary

August 11th, 2019

Dear Proctor Terrace Elementary Community,
I’m honored to be named Principal at Proctor Terrace Elementary. I’m
looking forward to meeting every one of you and working together!
The more I learn about your school, the more I am impressed by your
passion, your sense of purpose, and your joy in learning.
As Principal I hope to continue the traditions of the Proctor Terrace
community and lead us in creating a shared vision for our future.
Students’ wellbeing and achievement will be at the forefront of the
work we do every day. My intention is to connect with, inspire, and
celebrate our teachers, school staff, and parents. Strong relationships
and collaboration within our community will ensure our students’
continued success. Please come and talk with me about your ideas to
improve our work here at Proctor Terrace, and share your dreams for
our children.
Prior to coming to Proctor Terrace, I spent 21 years in elementary
education, first as a Spanish Bilingual Teacher, then as an Assistant
Principal, a Coordinator for English Learner Programs, and as a
Principal. I have two incredible sons, ages five and two, and a
gracious, supportive wife who is also an educator.
I wish you the best as we start another exciting year!
In partnership,
Brett Wilson

Atentamente,
Brett Wilson
Director, Proctor Terrace Elementary

Welcome Back

Upcoming Dates:

10/26: We are having a Proctor community get together tomorrow, Thursday the 26th from 4:30 to 6:00, on the field. This will be a time for our students and families to reconnect before school starts on Friday. Please feel free to bring a picnic dinner, blankets, chairs and umbrellas.

10/27: School Reopens! Consider wearing your tiger tog tshirts, your blue shirt from Walkathon. If you need a tiger tog please contact president@proctorterracepta.org, or stop by the office before school starts – we are happy to replace togs that were lost.

10/27: Friday, October 27th, please join Mrs. Olmsted in the Multi for coffee after drop off.

10/31: Due to the postponement of TigerFest, we will be allowing students to wear their Halloween costumes on Tuesday, October 31st. Costumes must be school dress code appropriate, no weapons or masks allowed. We are trying to line up donations of costumes for those students who may have lost theirs in the fire. There will be a parade around the block at 10:30. The Library will be staffed for students who do not want to participate in the parade. Next year we will go back to no costumes on Halloween and continue our Tigerfest tradition.

Letter from Mrs. Olmsted re: Moving Forward

Dear Proctor Terrace Families,

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter. I am hoping this letter finds you and your family safe and well. After careful consideration and discussion, our school district has decided that we will remain closed to students through at least next week (10/20).

There are many factors that must be met in order to reopen schools, and at this point, we do not believe the current conditions allow those factors to be met.

Those factors are as follows:

1. Containment of the fires
2. Power on at every site
3. Safety of the facilities, including the clearing of smoke damage
4. Appropriate air quality inside and outside of the school.
5. Availability of teachers and support staff to operate the schools
6. Safe routes to and from school sites
We would like to provide support for your student once we return to school. Please let us know if your family has been directly affected by these devastating events. Please call me at: 707-975-0132 and leave a message if I do not answer or email me at kolmsted@srcs.k12.ca.us

We will continue to communicate with you as we receive updated information. Please check the District website for additional resources.

We look forward to seeing you soon. Stay safe and know that you are all in my heart.

Sincerely,

Kathy Olmsted
