Tigerfest 2016!


Tigerfest is right around the corner- October 30th to be exact! Look for the flyer in student folders this week.

This fun, family friendly event can not be possible without your help! Parents, Aunts, Uncles OR Grandparents are ALL welcome to volunteer!!

How can YOU help????

  • Sign up to volunteer online here
  • Donate Candy, Small Prizes, Stickers, Pencils or Small Snacks!- Drop any donation items in the large “CANDY” bucket near the front office.
  • Buy tickets ahead of time! On the blacktop before school Oct 19-21, 26-28 or online

Join us Tuesday, 2/9 at Carmen’s Burger Bar – another neighborhood favorite! Watch your folders later this month for flyers about March Dine and Donates – a special parents night out and a month long outdoor ed fundraiser!

2/10 – Santa Rosa Middle School 6th Grade Orientation:

6th Grade Orientation at Santa Rosa Middle School Wednesday, February 10th @ 6:30pm in the Santa Rosa Middle School gym.

Join us for a very important and fun night at SRMS. This is a family event. We will have a short presentation in the gym and dance done by Leadership. After, the campus is open to tour for everyone. Leadership will have music in the quad and will be selling frozen yogurt with toppings. We will also have all our SRMS Cougar gear for sale ($10-$30) for hats, tshirts, sweatshirts and more. This table is always full and the kids love to wear their new Cougar gear to school the following day!

We can’t wait to see you!

Noon Supervision Position:

We have an opening for Noon supervision. This is a paid position. Please email Mrs. Olmsted if you’re interested.

Emergency Food and Water:

You will soon receive an email home from the teachers requesting a bottle of water, and a small quart-sized bag per child:

The bag should contain: 

  1. A photo of your family
  2. A notebook & pencil or other distraction
  3. A snack such as beef-jerky or cheese crackers
  4. A small flashlight like this

These bags will be kept in your child’s classroom in the event of a prolonged emergency such as an earthquake.

In the event that you cannot provide these items please let your teacher or class parents know and we’ll provide these items for you.

We’re also starting a PTA Committee for emergency preparedness. Are you a prepper? Do you know all about what it takes to survive short-term during an emergency? Please consider joining this committee. Thanks!

PTA Board for 2016-2017 School Year:

Are you interested in joining the PTA in a leadership position? Please let us know via email. We’ll begin the election process for 2016-2017 PTA positions at the March PTA meeting (3/3/2016 @ 7pm).

Board positions include:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

Additionally there will be many committees and opportunities to help in the 2016-2017 year. These committees are directly responsible for fundraising efforts to benefit your children.

This week at Proctor

2/1 – Pennies for Patients:

Starting today, Proctor Terrace Elementary School is participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients program; a service-learning program that gives students the unique experience of working together to help raise awareness and funds in honor of thousands of children and adults fighting against blood cancers!  We are asking that everyone (students,faculty, parents, alumni, etc.) at Proctor Terrace Elementary School join in this effort of raising awareness and collecting funds to benefit the mission of LLS: to find cures for blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patient and their families.


Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone loses their battle. Thanks to the support of people like you, doctors are getting closer to finding a cure every day!  In the 1960’s the 5-year survival rate for children under the age of 20 with ALL (the most common form of leukemia) went from a mere 3% to nearly 95% today!  Your support is critical to help us find a cure and I hope you will join us in the fight against blood

A series of six discussion-based classes facilitated by Karen Littell, MSW.

Parenting gifted children can be wonderfully rewarding. It can also be challenging, frustrating and exhausting! This series of guided discussion groups will offer information about nurturing our sensitive, intense, creative, and insatiably curious children.

Topics will include understanding gifted intensities, meeting social/emotional needs, peer relationships, isolation, perfectionism, procrastination, motivation, underachievement, self-regulation, executive function skills, depression, twice exceptional children (gifted plus other issues), stress, idealism, frustration tolerance, advocacy, imposter syndrome, and nurturing ourselves too!

The Dinner, Dance, Auction (DDA) is our school’s big spring fundraiser. This adult-only event is a great way to spend time with other parents, teachers and community stakeholders while raising much needed funds for our school.  Please mark your calendar.

Dinner, Dance & Auction

Since it’s never too early to plan for a date night – stay tuned for details on our annual “Dinner, Dance and Auction” event coming this spring! Volunteers are needed so please keep checking the PTA facebook page along with the website with ways that you can help make this a successful and FUN event.


Mrs. Olmsted and team are in the midst of hiring a noon supervisor to help our children during their lunch and recess hour. This is not a quick or easy process, and PTES needs our help now. If you are able to commit an hour of your day, 11:10 a.m.-12:10 p.m.,please contact the school office right away.

Even if you are able to commit to one day a week for the next several weeks, please do not hesitate to raise your hand and step up. A lunch hour here, a workout session there… the time you can commit to PTES will help in building a safe and wonderful school community.

Important Details for Wookieethon and Tigerfest
Wookieethon, Sept 25th 1:25pm:
  • Wookieethon still needs volunteers:
  • Dress up for Wookieethon.  Anything Star Wars or space theme.  $10 gift card for Best Costume!
  • Wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle
  • All prizes will be handed out the day of Wookieethon after your child completes their laps.  Be sure to turn in lap card at prize redemption.  See prize flyer for more information.
  • All pre-paid forms and permission slips are due by September 18th
  • Bring your cameras for the photo booth.  It is now a free booth, but you have to take your own pictures.  Props will be available to use.
  • ALL DONATIONS DUE October 5th !
Tigerfest, Oct 25th 12-3pm:
Wear your costume, dress your best, it’s almost time for Tigerfest!
Preparations are underway for Proctor Terrace Elementary School’s annual Halloween carnival. Tigerfest is hosted by parents and can only happen with your support.
The ASK:
  • We need to add five more parents to the committee. This is a short-term, high impact commitment…and FUN!
  • If you can help, please email heidifriedman@gmail.com by Sunday, September 20th. Thank you!
Here’s what YOU can do to help:
  • Help with set up (8am-11am)
    • Run a game during the carnival and represent your child’s class (12pm-3pm)
    • Help with cleanup (3pm-6pm)
  • Donate candy
  • Donate prizes or money to purchase prizes
  • Lend an awning for shade/rain or a cooler (remember to put  your name and phone number on it)
  • Bake a cake for the cake walk
  • Work anywhere as necessary!
